1. Tourism & Social Visits Visa-On-Arrival
Australian passport holders receive a visa-on-arrival stamp for short trips.
- 90/180 Rule: You can stay for up to **90 days** within any 180-day period on a rolling basis.
- Free of Charge: The 90-day visa-on-arrival is entirely free for Australian citizens.
- Smart Gate 2026: Once biometrics are registered, Aussies can clear immigration via 122 new biometric gates in under **5 seconds**.
- Passport: Must be valid for at least **6 months**. Emergency passports and those with "XX" in birthdate/gender are NOT accepted.
2. Green Residency (5-Year) No Sponsor
The Green Visa allows skilled Australians to live in UAE without a local employer sponsor.
- Skilled Employees: Requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum monthly salary of **AED 15,000**.
- Freelancers: Must show specialized skills and a stable annual income of approx. **AED 360,000** for the past 2 years.

3. 2026 Customs Declaration Digital Only
Effective 2026, UAE Customs has shifted towards a mobile-first declaration system.
- iDeclare App: You can fill out your customs declaration on your phone before arrival to skip manual inspection lines.
- Currency Limit: You MUST declare cash or monetary instruments exceeding **AED 60,000** (approx. 25,000 AUD).
- Medication: Certain painkillers (e.g., codeine) or cold meds common in Australia require prior online MOH approval.
- Duty-Free: Allowance includes 400 cigarettes, 1 litre of spirits, and 2 litres of wine.
4. 2026 Social Media & Behavior Strict
UAE laws are strictly enforced, with new updates starting February 2026.
- Advertiser Permit: Effective 2 February 2026, an official permit is mandatory for all social media promotions/influencer activity in the UAE.
- Photography: It is illegal to photograph government buildings, palaces, or people without their explicit consent (including people in the background).
- Zero Tolerance: Drunk behavior in public, including airports, is illegal and can lead to detention.
- Overstays: The 10-day grace period has been removed in 2026. Daily fines (AED 50–100) start immediately after your 90 days are up.
