1. Tourism & The 30-Day Rule Visa-Free
Malaysian citizens enjoy visa-free entry for tourism and social visits.
- Entry Period: You are granted a stay of up to **30 days** upon arrival.
- SGAC Mandate: You MUST submit the **SG Arrival Card (SGAC)** within 3 days before arrival. Submission is 100% free via the MyICA app.
- Passport: Must be valid for at least **6 months**.
- e-Pass: Singapore no longer stamps passports. You will receive an **Electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass)** via email after clearing immigration.
2. Next-Gen Clearance (QR & Biometric) 10-Second Entry
As of early 2026, Singapore has fully deployed biometric and QR-based systems at land and air checkpoints.
- Passport-less (Air/Sea): For departure from Changi, you can use facial and iris biometrics—no passport required at the gates once enrolled.
- QR Code (Land): Car travelers via Woodlands/Tuas can use **QR codes** generated from the MyICA app to clear immigration for the whole group (up to 4 members) simultaneously.
- Manual Enrollment: Note that for your first 2026 entry, you must still visit a manual counter to enroll your biometrics.
3. Driving to SG: VEP & The New OBU Mandatory April 1
Singapore has introduced major changes for foreign-registered vehicles in 2026.
- OBU Installation: Starting **1 April 2026**, Malaysian motorists can begin installing the new **ERP 2.0 On-Board Units (OBU)**. The cost is **$158.70** until Dec 31.
- Flat-Rate ERP: From early 2026, vehicles without an OBU must pay a flat-rate ERP fee of **$10 per day** ($3 for bikes) if they use ERP-priced roads.
- VEP/Autopass: Ensure your **Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP)** and Autopass card are valid. VEP fees for cars remain **$35 per day** (except weekends/PH) until the 2027 hike.
4. 2026 Customs & Prohibited Goods Strict Enforcement
Singapore Customs is on high alert for contraband during the 2026 Lunar New Year period.
- Zero Tobacco: There is **NO duty-free allowance** for any tobacco products. Every cigarette brought from Malaysia must be declared and taxed.
- Vapes & Bak Kwa: Importing e-vaporisers/vapes is strictly illegal. Also, carrying **Bak Kwa** (pork jerky) from Malaysia is prohibited.
- Currency: You must declare cash or monetary instruments exceeding **SGD 20,000** (approx. RM 70,000).
- GST Relief: You get GST relief on new goods worth up to **SGD 100** if you have been away from Singapore for < 48 hours.
