1. Gratis 30-Day e-Tourist Visa Zero Fee for Malaysians
Government of India has extended the free visa policy for Malaysian citizens through the end of 2026.
- Online Process: You MUST apply via the official e-Visa link: *indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html*.
- Gratis Condition: Only the **30-day e-Tourist visa** with double entry is free. All other categories (Business, Medical, etc.) require full payment.
- Validity: This specific free-visa offer is valid for applications submitted until **31 December 2026**.
- Processing: Typically approved within **24-72 hours**. Carry a printed copy of the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization).
2. Modernised Baggage Rules (Feb 2026) New Allowance
As of **2 February 2026**, India has significantly increased duty-free allowances for travelers.
- Foreign Tourist Limit: Your duty-free allowance has increased from ₹15,000 to **₹25,000** for personal items.
- One Laptop Rule: Travelers aged 18+ are now explicitly allowed to bring **one laptop computer** duty-free, regardless of its value.
- Pet Policy: The 2026 rules now allow for the duty-free import of pets as part of accompanied baggage.

3. Digital Entry & Biometrics Mandatory Vetting
India is shifting towards a 100% digital entry experience in 2026.

- Biometric Enrollment: Upon arrival, you may be required to undergo biometric verification (fingerprints and facial scan) at the immigration counter.
- Paper Visas: If you prefer a regular sticker visa, you must visit the **IVS Global Visa Centre** in KL or other outsourced cities and pay the full fee.
4. 2026 Customs: Gold & Tech Bans Strict Enforcement
Customs remains strict regarding high-value metals and prohibited electronic devices.
- Jewellery Limits: If you have lived abroad for >1 year, females can bring **40g** of gold jewellery duty-free; others are limited to **20g**.
- Banned Items: Firearms, satellite phones (Iridium/Thuraya), and vapes/e-cigarettes are strictly prohibited and can lead to immediate arrest or heavy fines.
- Currency: You must declare cash or monetary instruments exceeding **USD 5,000** (or equivalent) upon arrival.
