As of February 2026, Dubai (DXB) has fully deployed 122 next-generation contactless Smart Gates.

• Eligibility: French citizens with biometric passports who have recently visited DXB are likely already registered.
• Contactless: Simply look at the green light for facial/iris recognition. No document scan is required once registered.
• First-Timers: On your first 2026 visit, use the manual counter to automatically enroll your biometrics for future Smart Gate use.
• Exclusions: Guests under **15 years old** or under 1.2 meters in height should use manual counters.

The "Schengen-style" visa for the Gulf states is moving toward its 2026 pilot launch.

• The Launch: Confirmed for **Q4 2026**, the "GCC Grand Tours" visa will allow travel across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman.
• The Concept: A single digital permit issued via a centralized portal, eliminating the need for separate e-visas for each Gulf nation.
• Estimated Cost: Expected to range between **$100 and $150** (approx. €93 - €140).
• Status: Currently, French tourists should continue using their standard 90-day visa-on-arrival until the full rollout.

UAE Customs has shifted to a mobile-first self-declaration system for all 2026 travelers.

• iDeclare App: Use the official **iDeclare** app to declare commercial goods, medications, or cash before you land.
• Currency Limit: You must declare cash, traveler’s cheques, or precious metals exceeding **AED 60,000** (approx. €15,300).
• Banned Items: Strictly no "Black Magic" items, certain types of laser pens, or publications contradicting Islamic values.
• Medication: Carry a copy of your French prescription for any controlled medications; certain narcotics require prior approval via the MoHAP portal.
