1. UAE Citizens: No Visa Needed Visa-Waiver
UAE passport holders currently enjoy the highest level of travel freedom for Ireland.
- Entry Rule: You can stay for up to **90 days** for tourism or business without a visa.
- No Schengen Benefit: Remember, Ireland is NOT in the Schengen zone. Your 90-day Irish stay does not count toward your Schengen limit.

2. The UK Transit ETA Trap Important
If your flight from Dubai/Abu Dhabi stopovers in the UK, the rules have changed significantly.
- Mandatory ETA: From **25 February 2026**, UAE citizens transiting through London (LHR) or Manchester (MAN) MUST have a **UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)**.
- Cost & Validity: It costs **£16** (approx. AED 75) and is valid for **2 years**. Applications take minutes via the 'UK ETA' app.
- Boarding Denied: Emirates and Etihad will refuse boarding without a valid ETA if your rasta involves a UK transit.
- Exemption: To avoid this, book **direct flights** (e.g., Emirates to Dublin) or transit through hubs like Paris or Frankfurt.
3. Residents (India, Pakistan, etc.) Standard Visa
Most expats residing in the UAE (from non-exempt countries) must apply via VFS Global.
- Online Application: First, complete the **AVATS** form online.
- VFS Centers: Visit **VFS Abu Dhabi** or **VFS Dubai** to submit documents and biometrics.
- Processing Time: Average wait time for a visit visa is **3 to 4 weeks**, though it can take longer during peak periods.
- Funds Proof: You must show 6 months of original bank statements. Stamped digital statements are mandatory.
4. 2026 Customs: €430 Limit Strict Enforcement
Ireland enforces strict biosecurity and tax rules for non-EU travelers.
- Duty-Free Allowance: You can bring gifts/souvenirs worth up to **€430** per adult.
- Tobacco/Alcohol: Strictly limited to **200 cigarettes** and **1 litre** of spirits (over 22% alcohol).
- Food Warning: Strictly NO meat or dairy products can be brought into Ireland from the UAE.
- Currency: Cash exceeding **€10,000** (approx. AED 39,000) must be declared at the airport to avoid seizure.
