1. Visa Process & VFS Relocation Important Jan 12
Indian citizens must apply for a visa before travel. Ireland is NOT part of the Schengen Zone.
- VFS Delhi Move: Effective **12 January 2026**, the Ireland Visa Application Centre in New Delhi has relocated. Ensure you check your appointment letter for the new address.
- Online Application: Complete the form on **AVATS Online**, then print and sign the summary sheet.

If you fly to Ireland via London (Heathrow) or Manchester, a major rule change applies on **25 February 2026**.
- Mandatory ETA: Indian citizens transiting through the UK (even for an hour) MUST have an approved **UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)**.
- Boarding Denial: From Feb 25, airlines like Air India or Virgin will deny boarding if you don't have this digital waiver linked to your passport.
- Cost: It costs **£16** (approx. &rupee;1,700) via the 'UK ETA' app and is valid for 2 years.
- Exception: You do NOT need this if you fly direct (e.g., via Middle Eastern hubs like Dubai or Doha).
3. British-Irish Visa Scheme (BIVS) Visa Waiver
A huge benefit for Indian travelers who already have or are applying for a UK visa.
- The Rule: If you have a UK visitor visa endorsed with **"BIVS"**, you can travel onwards to Ireland without a separate Irish visa.
- The Logic: You must first enter the country that issued the visa (the UK) before traveling to Ireland.
- Stay: You can stay in Ireland for up to 90 days or until your UK leave expires, whichever is shorter.
4. 2026 Financial & Customs Check Strict Enforcement
