UK is phasing out physical visa vignettes and BRP cards.

• No More Stickers: For applications paid after **25 February 2026**, successful applicants will likely receive a digital **eVisa** instead of a passport sticker.
• UKVI Account: You MUST create a **UKVI account** to access and share your immigration status digitally with airlines or employers.
• Boarding Checks: Carriers (Air India, Virgin Atlantic) will verify your digital permission-to-travel before you even reach the gate.
• Passport Link: Your eVisa is linked to your passport number; if you renew your passport, you must update your UKVI account immediately.

There is a common misconception that Indians can use the new UK ETA. This is FALSE.

• Full Visa Required: The ETA is only for visa-exempt countries (USA, Canada, etc.). Indian citizens require a **complete visa** even for 1-day trips or airside transit.
• VFS Global: You must still attend a biometrics appointment at **VFS Global** (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc.) to give fingerprints.
• Proof of Funds: For a visitor visa, you must show 6 months of bank statements (suggested £1,200+ balance) and strong ties to India.

The bar for working in the UK has been raised significantly for 2026 arrivals.

• English Level: Since **8 January 2026**, the English requirement has jumped from B1 to **B2 level** (A-level equivalent) for Skilled Worker and HPI routes.
• Salary Floor: The general salary threshold has jumped to **£41,700** per year.
• Skill Level: Only jobs at **RQF Level 6** (Bachelor's degree equivalent) are generally sponsorable, removing 111 previously eligible roles.
• Graduate Route: Remains open, allowing students to work for **2 years** unsponsored after graduation.

UK Border Force enforces zero-tolerance on specific imports from India.

• Food Alert: Strictly NO meat, dairy, or fresh fruit (including **Mangoes**) can be brought for personal use.
• Duty-Free: Allowance includes **200 cigarettes** and **4 litres** of spirits (over 22% alcohol).
• Currency: Cash or monetary instruments exceeding **£10,000** must be declared digitally before entry.
• TB Test: Indian citizens staying >6 months MUST provide a valid **TB test certificate** from an approved clinic.
