Malaysian citizens are among the few nationalities who do not need a visa for short-term stays in Ireland.

• Stay Duration: You can stay for up to **90 days** (approx. 3 months) for tourism, family visits, or business meetings.
• Passport: Your Malaysian passport must be valid for at least **6 months** beyond your intended stay.
• Supporting Docs: Border officers may ask for proof of a **return ticket**, accommodation booking, and sufficient funds.
• Non-Schengen: Ireland is NOT in the Schengen Area. Entering Ireland does not allow you to enter France or Germany without a separate visa/check.

Starting **25 February 2026**, travel via UK airports (like Heathrow) or ferries requires new digital permission.

• The Rule: If your flight to Ireland transits through the UK, you MUST have a **UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)**.
• Cost: It costs **£16** (approx. RM 97) and is valid for **2 years**.
• No ETA, No Travel: Carriers will deny boarding in Malaysia if you don't have this ETA for a UK-connected flight.
• Land Border: If you land in London and take a bus/train to Belfast or Dublin, the ETA is strictly mandatory.

• Work Permits: You must secure an employment permit from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment before applying for the visa.
• IRP Card: If your stay is approved for >90 days, you must register with the immigration office in Ireland and get an **Irish Residence Permit (IRP)**.
• Study: Requires an admission letter from an Irish university and proof of sufficient funds (approx. €10,000 for the first year).
• Application: Must be submitted online via the **AVATS** system and then documents sent to the Irish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
