1. Visitor Visa (No ETA Required) Mandatory Visa
Unlike NZ or USA, Pakistani citizens MUST apply for a standard visa before travel.
- No ETA Benefit: The new UK ETA is for visa-exempt countries. Pakistanis still require the **Standard Visitor Visa**.
- Cost: Single/Multiple entry for 6 months costs **£127** (approx. PKR 44,500).
- VFS Global: Appointments in Pakistan are mandatory (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Mirpur) for biometric data.
- Wait Time: Standard processing is currently **3 weeks**; priority service (5 days) is available for an extra fee.
2. Skilled Worker & B2 English Mandate Strict Jan 8
Starting **8 January 2026**, the bar for working in the UK has been raised.
- English Level: Requirement has jumped from B1 to **B2 level** (equivalent to A-level standard) for Skilled Worker and HPI routes.
- Salary Threshold: The general salary floor remains at **£41,700** per year.
- Skill Level: Only jobs at **RQF Level 6** (Bachelor's degree equivalent) are now sponsorable, removing 111 previously eligible roles.
- Settlement: April 2026 plans suggest the path to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) may extend from 5 to **10 years**.
3. 2026 Digital eVisa Mandate BRPs Ending
The UK is abolishing all physical immigration documents by the end of 2026.
- eVisa Deadline: By **31 December 2026**, all physical Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and passport vignettes will be invalid.
- UKVI Account: All Pakistani visa holders (students/workers) MUST register for a **UKVI account** to access their digital status.
- Boarding: From early 2027, airlines will only verify your status digitally; no account means no boarding.
4. 2026 Customs & Baggage Strict Enforcement
UK Border Force enforces zero-tolerance on specific imports from Pakistan.
- Food Alert: Strictly NO meat, dairy, or fresh fruit (including **Mangoes**) can be brought for personal use.
- Duty-Free: Allowance includes **200 cigarettes** and **4 litres** of spirits (over 22% alcohol).
- Currency: Cash or monetary instruments exceeding **£10,000** must be declared digitally before entry.
- Medication: Carry your Pakistani prescription; certain medicines (like Diazepam or Tramadol) require a prior UK Home Office permit.
