UAE to UK Visa Guide

1. UAE Citizens: "No ETA, No Boarding" Strict from Feb 25
From **25 February 2026**, the grace period ends. Every UAE national must have an ETA to board.
- Cost: **AED 80** (£16) per person, including infants and children.
- Validity: Valid for **2 years** or until your passport expires. Allows multiple entries for stays up to 6 months.
- Application: Use the official **'UK ETA' app**. Decisions are often made in minutes, but apply **3 working days** early.
- Transit: You need an ETA even for connecting flights if you pass through UK passport control.
2. UAE Residents (Non-Exempt) Standard Visa
Expats in the UAE from "Visa National" countries (e.g., India, Pakistan, Philippines) must apply for a standard visa.
- Processing Time: Standard applications from UAE are taking an average of **3 weeks** (15 working days).
- Priority Service: For urgent travel, the 5-day priority service is available at VFS Global centers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
- Submission: Book your appointment via VFS Global. Ensure your UAE residency is valid for at least 3-6 months.
3. 2026 eVisa Digital Mandate For Visa Holders
The UK is abolishing physical documents (BRPs, vignettes) by the end of February 2026.
- Mandatory Account: All UAE residents with long-term UK visas (Student/Work) MUST create a **UKVI account**.
- Linking: Link your current passport to your digital **eVisa**. If they aren't linked, airlines like Emirates and Etihad may refuse boarding.
- Share Code: You no longer show a physical card; instead, you generate a **Share Code** from your UKVI account to prove your status to employers or landlords.
4. 2026 Customs & Prohibited Items Strict
UK Border Force enforces strict biosecurity rules for travelers from the Middle East.
- Alcohol & Tobacco: Duty-free allowance includes 200 cigarettes and 4 litres of spirits (over 22%).
- Food Alert: Strictly NO meat or dairy products can be brought into the UK from outside the EU/Schengen.
- Currency: You must declare cash or monetary instruments exceeding **£10,000** (approx. AED 47,000).
- Medication: Carry your UAE prescription for all medicines. Certain narcotics require a prior UK Home Office permit.
